This is "WILL.INT" program
1. Introduction:
Before doing anything, you should make a 'back up' copy of this disk.
The disk is not 'protected', and you can easily copy same with your
DOS "DISK COPY" command.
This program should run on most 'word processing' programs, with some
adjustments that you might have to make. I have not put too many fancy
instructions into the wills on this disk, in case these instructions
do not work on your 'word processing' program
I have written this program/disk on an upgraded IBM-PCJr with DOS 2.10;
and using the word processing package PC-Write 3.02, but since PC-
Write 3.02 is too large to be placed on this disk, for those of you
who do not have a word processing program I have also placed "TSCRIPT"
on this disk.
2. The Author:
James Rose has various university degrees: a B.A., and a B.Comm.(Hons.)
as well as an LL.B. (law degree). He has instructed courses in Wills
for several years; and he has make many many wills for many many
people.
3. Introduction to Wills:
There are many many variations and types of wills, and the law of
different locations (states, provinces, countries) are different. Thus
I have tried to make the wills that are on this disk in such a way as
to enable their use in most all areas.
In addition, please make sure you read the general will instructions
program that is included on this disk.
4. Wills:
I have made a number of various wills, and in addition a program that
gives general information on wills, and also a program that gives a
number of clauses that you may wish to add to certain of the wills.
By using the will that is closest to your situation, and then adding
clauses from other wills or from the program with will clauses, and
also by amending the existing or added clauses, or removing clauses,
you can make thousands of different wills, and at least one will be
perfect for your exact situation.
The following is a list of the various wills, their program numbers,
and a very brief (not complete) description of each:
-1. WILL.001
Will by husband leaving everything to his wife, and if the wife dies
before the husband leaving everything to the children.
-2. WILL.002
Will by wife leaving everything to her husband, and if the husband dies
before the wife leaving everything to the children.
-3. WILL.003
Will by husband leaving everything to his wife, and since the couple
have no children, if the wife dies before the husband leaving
everything, in equal parts, to the bothers and sisters of the husband
and wife, and if one of the brothers and sisters dies before the death
of the wife, the share of that brother or sister will go to his or her
children, and if there are no such children then that share will be
equally divided between the living brothers and sisters.
-4. WILL.004
Will by wife leaving everything to her husband, and since the couple
have no children, if the husband dies before the wife leaving
everything, in equal parts, to the bothers and sisters of the husband
and wife, and if one of the brothers and sisters dies before the death
of the husband, the share of that brother or sister will go to his or
her children, and if there are no such children then that share will
be equally divided between the living brothers and sisters.
-5. WILL.005
A very simple will by a husband leaving everything to his wife.
-6. WILL.006
A very simple will by a wife leaving everything to her husband.
-7. WILL.007
Will by a single person, leaving everything in two equal parts to that
person's parents, if one parent is dead leaving everything fully to
the other parent, and if both parents are dead all the estate to be
equally divided between that person's brothers and sisters.
-8. WILL.008
Will by a single person, leaving everything in equal parts to that
person's brothers and sisters, and if one of the brothers or sisters
dies before that single person, leaving the share of that brother or
sister to their children (in equal parts), and if that brother or
sister has no children, the share of that dead brother or sister to
the living brothers and sisters in equal parts.
-9. WILL.009
Will by a single person, in contemplation of marriage. Includes a 30
day clause in the event of death of husband and wife within 30 days of
each other.
-10. WILL.010
Will by a husband that appoints a trust company as trustee, leaves
personal and household effects to his wife, leaving a life interest to
his wife with provision for income for his wife, with the remainder
upon the death of his wife to the children.
-11. WILL.011
Will by husband leaving everything to his wife, and if the wife dies
before the husband leaving everything to the children. However, before
leaving everything to his wife, the husband makes some specific gifts
to others.
-12. WILL.012
Will by wife leaving everything to her husband, and if the husband dies
before the wife leaving everything to the children. However, before
leaving everything to her husband, the wife makes some specific gifts
to others.
-13. WILL.013
Will by farmer (male) appointing his wife as executor (executrix) and
trustee, and empowering her to carry on farming business and let in
children as partners.
-14. WILL.014
Will of unmarried man, providing for his sister until her death, and
then dividing the estate between his brothers and sisters.
-15. WILL.015
This is actually a codocil to a will. That is to say an amendment to an
existing will.
-16. WILL.016
This is actually a cover page ('backer') for your will.
-17. WILL.017
This is actually not a will, but an affidavit of execution of the will.
This is for the witness to sign and swear to before a notary public
(or the like) just after they have witnessed your signing of your
will. This need not be done immediately, and can wait until death, but
this is a good thing to do as soon as possible for many reasons.
-18. WILL.018
This is actually a Power of Attorney.
4. Introduction to PC-Write:
This program was written in the word processing program "PC-Write".
PC-Write is a great word processing program, and it is a shareware
program, that lets you try same before deciding to register. PC-Write
is one of the most popular word processing programs in use, and it is
contained, in full, on three complete five and a quarter DS/DD disks.
This is available from myself. The disks include an 18 page "PC-Write
Tutorial", a 75 page "PC-Write Quick Guide", and an extensive "Help"
file. If you like the PC-Write program, and you will, after trying it
out, you can register it with the authors.
You do not need PC-Write, you can just enter into your own word
processing program and then 'call up' the wills on this disk, and then
edit and print in that way. If you do not have a word processing
program, or do not wish to use your word processing program, you can
use the "TSCRIPT" program on this disk, or even just DOS.
For more information on the PC-Write program, see below.
5. Disclaimer:
There is absolutely no representation made that the enclosed
information and wills will be correct and legal under the laws of any
certain area. No responsibility is given or accepted that the wills and
information will be fit for your exact purpose. While I have a
knowledge of wills, such knowledge cannot be transferred in one
short disk. There are thousands of books on wills, and the information
contained in same will be of use to you. In addition it is strongly
suggested that you retain the services of a lawyer to prepare a will,
or at least to check your work.
6. Problems?
As to the subject matter of wills, please be advised that the answers
that I will give on the subject of 'wills' will be that in my own
geographical area which may or may not have the same law as in your area.
As to the computer program itself, I am not a computer expert, and the
best answer to most problems would first to obtain another copy of the
disk from where ever you got same; and if this does not solve your problem
to order a 'complete' copy of PC-Write from me and use this disk/program
with same.
I have tried this program on various computers, including PCjr, PC, XT,
286; and with various DOS including 2 and 3 and 4. This program has always
run correctly. This program is set up for most regular printers, and if
you have a different or special printer, you will have to follow your
instructions with that printer.
I am not in a position to give 'consultations', except as stated in the
Registration' part of this introduction.
7. Permission Given and Restrictions:
James Rose claims a copyright on "WILLS".
You are hereby granted permission to copy this disk and distribute same
to others, as long as the whole of the disk is copied and without any
changes. This permission also extends to your charging a small sum for
your costs in the duplication of the disk.
In addition you are also granted permission to freely review all the
materials on this disk, without cost. However, if you use the materials
on this disk to make a will or wills, you must pay a registration fee
for same.
8. Suggestions?
Although I will not normally be able to enter into correspondence with
you, as I have a full time job and a full time family, any suggestions
for changes and improvements would be appreciated. Also, if you find any
errors - please also advise.
9. Registration:
All prices are quoted in U.S.A. funds. However, Canadians can pay by
Canadian checks - if you will just add the current exchange on U.S.A.
funds, to obtain that rate just telephone your bank and ask for their
current selling rate for U.S.A. funds. For example, while I am writing
this, the bank's selling rate for U.S.A. funds is $1.185 - that is you
must pay $1.18 and a half cents Canadian for every U.S.A. dollar, and
thus $25 in U.S.A. funds would be $25 times 1.185 = $29.62 and a half
cents Canadian.
If you register your copy of this disk, you will receive:
a) the right to use the disk/program to make will(s) forever
b) all 'updates' for a full year
c) future information on this and other programs
d) a free five minute 'consultations' on wills
e) a free five minute 'consultations' on running the program
f) reduced rate for additional 'consultations'
g) the telephone number for 'consultations'
h) the three 5 1/4" disks of the "PC-WRITE 3.02" word processing
i) a registered copy of the 'wills' disk, similar to this disk
j) I also sometimes also include additional useful and/or interesting
programs on the registered copy of the 'wills' disk
For further information on the above 'advantages', see below.
If you wish to register your copy of this program, and obtain all the
above stated advantages, the cost is only $25.
However, if you wish only a) above ONLY, the cost is $10. However, you
will receive NONE of the other advantages.
These figures include all postage, all handling, and all taxes.
In order to register, send your check or money order (sending of cash
by mail is not suggested - but is accepted at your risk) to:

Additional Information on Advantages:
-Savings:
The following are just a few examples of your potential savings with
full registration.
The costs of obtaining a will from a lawyer usually starts at
about $100.00 and goes up greatly where you go beyond a very simple
will (usually leaving everything to your spouse). thus if you use this
program to make a will for yourself, you have already saved at least
$100.00; and if you use the program to make a will for your spouse you
have saved probably another $100.00 - for a total savings of $200.00.
Your four included 'consultations' have a regular price of $20.00
each, for a total of $40.00.
Your additional 'consultations' will also cause you a savings of
$10.00 each - so the savings are unlimited.
The three disks of "PC-WRITE" are shareware that normally sell for
about $5.00 a disk, for a total of $15.00; in fact if you buy this
directly from PC-WRITE the cost is $19.00 plus $5.00 to $8.00 for
shipping costs. However, I have seen some sell shareware at up to
$12.95 a disk. Thus a savings of from $15.00 to $38.85.
-Consultations:
There are two types on 'consultations':
a) The first type of 'consultation' is with regard to the subject of
'wills'
b) The second type of 'consultation' is with regard to the computer
program itself.
As to a), the subject matter of wills, please be advised that the answers
that I will give on the subject of 'wills' will be that in my own
geographical area which may or may not have the same law as in your area.
As to b), the computer program itself, I am not a computer expert, and the
best answer to most problems would first to obtain another copy of the
disk from where ever you got same; and if this does not solve your problem
to order a 'complete' copy of PC-Write from me and use this disk/program
with same.
-Additional 'consultations'
My regular hourly rate for all 'consultations' is $165.00 an hour,
with a minimum charge of $20.00 for five minutes. However, during the
term of your registration, my rate will be half that stated, and in
addition you will be protected from any future increases in this rate
for the period of your registration. You must pay the long distance
telephone charges, and the 'consultation' will be charged to your VISA
credit card.
-PC-WRITE 3.02:

-WILLS - expanded disk:
The registered disk will contain many features that are used in the PC-
WRITE 3.02 word processing program. That is to say that the 'set up' of
the wills are better in ways that the PC-WRITE 3.02 uses, for example
underlining, spacing, bold face, etc. etc.
-Additional Programs:
The registered disk of wills will also contain some additional programs
that you may find useful or entertaining. These may not be related to
wills. I do not state which ones, as I change the ones that I place on
the disks as new ones come to my notice. The programs could be a clock
(with an alarm) that displays constantly on your screen, different
games, you name it.
